Whew, we made it, Savvy Readers. What a long, loooooong week that was. But, it’s finally time for the weekend, and we have rounded up all the bookish news that you might have missed from this past week!
1. HCC March Madness Round 2 is now live!
After some exciting matches and some close calls, round 1 of HCC March Madness has officially come to a close. Did you favourite books make the cut? Well, if they did, then you need to keep voting, because there are still THREE whole rounds to go! Also, the more you vote, the more chances you have at winning the grand prize 64-book library. 2. Mabel’s Fables has a new project
Arguably the cutest bookstore in the world has partnered with Teach for Canada – an organization that “recruits teachers to work in remote First Nations communities” – on a brand new donation project called, Kids Read North, that sends schools in remote and underprivileged areas up north brand new books to ensure that every student has something new and exciting to read. 3. There are going to be TWO Nobel Prizes for Literature this year
One year removed from a year without any Nobel Prizes in literature, the Nobel Foundation has decided to award two authors the distinguished prize this year. The last winner was Kazuo Ishiguro, author of Never Let Me Go and The Buried Giant, who won in 2017. Which authors will win this year? Only time will tell. 4. Drama in Game of Thrones land…
According to recent reports, word on the street is that George R. R. Martin has confirmed that the final book in the series – coming annnnnny day now… (he says wistfully) – is likely going to feature “important discrepancies” from season 8.
