NextPersonYouMeetinHeaven

The Next Person You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom

I think you’ll agree with me on this one: Some books are more than gifts. Sometimes, a book can represent much more than just a simple present, and Mitch Albom’s latest is one of those books. Serving as a sequel to one of the most beloved novels of all-time, The Next Person You Meet In Heaven is the perfect gift for anyone on your list who might need a little motivational pick-me-up or anyone on your list that you want to show your appreciation for.

born into it

Born Into It by Jay Baruchel

Every family or friend group has that one person who is a diehard fan of the absolute worst teams around. Despite the fact that they always seem to lose in hilariously spectacular fashion, this person swears by their fandom and refuses to let go of their attachment. For Jay Baruchel, that person is him, and his attachment is the Montreal Canadiens. Part memoir, part guide to cheering for things that let you down more often than not, Born Into It is the perfect book for anyone who is a fan of literally anything, because, as we all know, the things we love the most are the things that disappoint us the most often.

Washington Black by Esi Edugyan

I don’t know if you heard or not, but Esi Edugyan just won her second consecutive Giller Prize for Washington Black. And I don’t know if you recall or not, but we liked Washington Black… a lot. We can’t really say much more about this book that hasn’t already been said, except that it’s a book that transgresses so many different genres that it’s almost indescribable. The writing is beautifully poetic like the very best in literary fiction, the story is haunting like the best in historical fiction, and some of the elements are almost fantastical in nature. That’s why Washington Black is perfect for any reader of any type.

Everyone’s favourite member spy is back in action!… Well, kind of, sort of. I mean, 007 may die at the beginning of this novel, but that doesn’t mean James Bond won’t live.
