Bookmarks: November 16th

Happy mid-November, Savvy Readers! I know it’s incredibly cliche to say, but I seriously cannot believe we are so close to the end of the year. Where has all the time gone? If you’re running around with end of year things and don’t have time to keep up with book news, no fret: we have it all here for you.

1. The Dumplin’ Trailer is Here

Could we be any more excited to watch Dumplin’ on Netflix on December 7th!? Adapted from Julie Murphy’s novel of the same, Dumplin’ stars Danielle Macdonald and Jennifer Aniston AND features brand new music by Dolly Parton. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, click here to check it out!

2. Go Behind the Scenes of a Book Sorting Competition

Competitive Book Sorting

This made my book and library-loving heart so happy! Last week, the New York and Brooklyn Public Libraries and Washington State’s King County Library System — who both use a Lyngsoe Systems Compact Cross Belt Sorter to sort book requests to be delivered to various library branches in their system — competed against each other to see which team could sort the most books using the Lyngsoe in an hour. The stakes for this year’s competition was especially high: after 5 years of competition, Washington State is up 3-2. Will the east coast be able to even the score? Learn more about how the competition works and what the results were here.

3. Sarah Dessen Announces New Book

Coming out next year with HarperCollins, The Rest of the Story is about “a girl reconnecting with family members she hasn’t seen in years.” Read the announcement in AP here.
