1. The Hate U Give Premieres at Toronto International Film Festival
The Hate U Give, based on Angie Thomas‘ bestselling novel, won’t be released in theatres until October 19th but some lucky moviegoers will be able to see it this weekend at TIFF! This important story is bound to translate into a powerful movie and we can’t wait to see it on the big screen. If you can’t make it, be sure to check out the press conference live stream here on Saturday September 8th.
2. The Fall of Gondolin by J.R.R. Tolkien Features New Illustrations by Alan Lee
We can’t get enough of Alan Lee’s beautiful illustrations! Luckily, with the release of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Fall of Gondolin last week, we’ve been treated to more of his work. See a sneak peek above and learn more about The Fall of Gondolin here!
3. Overdue Book Returned… 50 Years Late

If you have an overdue book from the library it’s never too late to return it! A resident from Kentucky has finally returned his overdue library book after 50 years, causing quite the news story. Had there not been a fine cap he would have owed the library $2,700. Read the story here.
4. Vote for the Summer 2018 HCC Fan Choice!
The time has come! HarperCollins Canada is looking for a new Fan Choice pick! Last season their pick was The Home For Unwanted Girls by Joanna Goodman — which book will follow in its footsteps? Nominate the best book you read this summer here and you might just win a copy!
