Top Story Tuesday: August 21

Listen up, book-loving job seekers! This just may be the best job posting ever.

Philip Blackwell is looking for someone to run what may be the world’s most remote book shop, in the luxury eco resort Soneva Fushi in the Maldives. Where do we sign up?!

The bookseller must sign up for a minimum of three months, during which they’ll live near the resort on the island and keep a blog that “captures the exhausting life of a desert island bookseller.” The applicant should be able to entertain guests and children with storytelling, and host writing classes. The resort has a host of celebrity guests, so who knows who you’d be recommending books to?!

The bookshop will feature books on the local environment, as well as titles curated for  the tourists who stay at the resort. The guests are “highly educated, inquiring people who want to relax and get away from things but also think a bit and better themselves,” say Blackwell.
