I have a confession to make: I hate going to IKEA. I somehow always think it’s a good idea to take shortcuts and always end up getting lost. I also buy way too much stuff that I don’t need. But IKEA has gone and changed the game, folks.
Starting today and ending August 5th, customers shopping at that particular IKEA location will be able to curl up on a sofa with any of the Man Booker 2018 longlisted books. As if that wasn’t good enough, YOU GET TO KEEP THE BOOKS FOR FREE!
On the company website, their mission statement with this initiative is fairly simple: “As the boundaries between our work and home lives become more blurred, it’s become harder to switch off. Our homes aren’t the haven they once were. Yet reading for just six minutes a day can be enough to reduce stress levels by more than two-thirds.” You know, I don’t know where they’re getting their stats from, but I don’t particularly care – I’m going to start quoting them whenever someone tells me I’m “reading too much,” as if that’s actually a thing that people do 🙄🙄🙄.

Tell us, Savvy Readers: would you go to your local IKEA (or similar furniture store) to read (remember, there are free books involved!)? What does your ideal reading nook look like? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter @SavvyReader!
