It’s time for another edition of Bookmarks, Savvy Readers! Who’s excited? We’ve collected the week’s biggest book news here in this handy post for you. Keep reading to see what happened this week!

1. Canadian Wins Golden Man Booker Prize

Golden Man Booker Prize Shortlist

In case you missed it, the Man Booker Prize has awarded a special Golden Man Booker Prize to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the prize. Now, the winner has been crowned! Congratulations to Canadian Michael Ondaatje, who has won for his 1992 novel The English Patient. See the announcement here.

2. New Book-to-Movie Trailers Released!

We love seeing our favourite books adapted for the big screen and we’ve been so lucky so far this year! We’ve already seen (and loved) Love, Simon, and the trailer for The Hate U Give was released a few weeks ago. Now we have two more movies to add to our list! First, we have The Bookshop, trailer here, based on Penelope Fitzgerald’s novel of the same name. Then, we have The Miseducation of Cameron Post, trailer here, which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize. Keep your eyes peeled for these movies, Savvy Readers!

3. It’s Official: We Should Read More, According to Science

Inc.com Read Books Science

If you didn’t already know, reading is super beneficial! Inc.com has the scoop on the many reasons why reading is good for us. Our favourite point? The fact that reading 50 books can be totally manageable! (Psst, sign up for the 50 Book Pledge if you haven’t already!) See what science says about the benefits of reading here.

4. What If This Was the Cover for What If It’s Us?

To celebrate July 9th — aka the day Ben and Arthur meet for the first time in What If It’s Us!! — Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera shared a cute edit of the What If It’s Us cover on Twitter (with photo credit going to Seth Abel) and we love it! Becky also shared the post on Instagram here. Comment below if you’re excited to read What If It’s Us!
