Happy bookstagram takeover/Canadian and US release day for HOW TO STOP TIME by @mattzhaig! I read this touching novel over the weekend and was reminded why I love Matt Haig’s writing. 💙😭💗 I’ll be posting a mani and review later in the week so for now, check out the description and then boot it to the bookstore to pick up a copy!! . . Special shoutout to Bogdan, an incredibly enthusiastic and generous watchmaker who graciously let me use his store, Timepiece, to take this pic. Friends, some of the watches here date back to the 1700s!!! I’ve never held such vintage pieces of craftsmanship before, and hearing a bit of their history from Bogdan made me feel like a clock VIP. If you’re ever in Cookstown, ON, you’ve gotta pop into this marvelous shop. I’ve included a few pics of Timepiece’s treasures, but for real, you need to see this place to believe it!! It’s basically Ollivanders but for clocks. 😍⏱😍 . . And thanks to @harpercollinsca for the finished copy!! . . Tom Hazard has a dangerous secret. What were your thoughts?

A book so nice I got it twice! How to stop time was one of my favourite books of 2017. I heard that #howtostoptime by @mattzhaig was equates to Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine in that they’re both up-lit, so I ordered the book from the UK! . It was an interesting concept, with the main character being hundreds of years old, and it really explored the life lessons that he experienced. It dealt with ideas about choosing your own life, finding love and dealing with loss; in our ability to trust other people, find yourself and discover what you are passionate about. It talked about the enduring love between a mother and her child and between partners and centred around the idea of finding something in life that is worth living and fighting for. . The prose was beautiful in the book, and I found myself reading it late into the night. . I think this is a beautifully written book, and I would highly recommend it if you are interested in a unique spin on a contemporary tale. . Thank you @harpercollinsca for sending me the US edition of the book!

HOW TO STOP TIME is a melancholic tale of Tom Hazard, a man who ages at a remarkably slow pace. 🕰 Like, he’s four hundred but looks forty, kind of deal. Not immortal, just a terribly extended lifespan, and Tom’s loneliness was palpable in the first chapter. He longed for a normal life where he didn’t have to continue changing his identity, and when he returned to London after a prolonged absence, for a moment, it seemed he may finally have what he’d longed for. . . But it wasn’t as easy as Tom desperately wanted it to be, and soon he’s forced into memories of the past. Now, these memories were pretty incredible to read about, as they’re personal stories including the likes of Captain Cook and Shakespeare, but for Tom, they’re bittersweet. However, the key to the present is understanding the past, so Tom must keep searching for answers in order to reclaim his life. . . Thanks to Haig’s trademark beautiful and insightful prose, I ripped through this remarkable book that examined what it means to love and be loved in return because gah, it’s just too amazing!! 😍😭 Five stars all the way and a serious must read! . . Big thanks to @harpercollinsca for a finished copy! . . Jacket design by Jim Tierney. . . Click link in bio for my full review! #jenniesnailsandtales 💅🏼📚 . . For the mani, I used: @chinaglazeofficial Wait N Sea and Baroque Jungle, @fingerpaintsfun Black Expressionism and Paper Mâché, @opi_products Need Sunglasses, Rollin In Cashmere, and matte topcoat, @sonailicious_boutique needle brush. . . #howtostoptime #matthaig #50bookpledge #chaptersindigo #indigofaves #freehandnailart #chinaglaze #cgclique #sonailiciousbrush #opipolish

#HowToStopTime by @mattzhaig is out today guys, and I’m so excited to dig into this one. The story is about a man who has been alive for hundreds of years because of a genetic condition that slows his aging significantly. Because of this condition he has to continue to move around to avoid detection, and one of the main rules he has to follow is to not fall in love. When he moves back to his hometown, he takes a job as a history teacher, and then he meets a woman. The one thing he can’t have may be the one thing he needs the most. • Thank you to some of my favourite friends at @harpercollinsca for sending me a copy of this book, it will be devoured, I’m sure. • #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #books #booklover #bookaddict #howtostoptime #matthaig #indigoemployee #fiction #love #romance #newrelease #bookstagramfeature #newbooks #lovestories
