50 Book Pledge Featured Read: Give Me the Child

Give Me the Child by Mel McGrath is a new Killer Crime Club thriller that’s seriously compulsive, dark, and devastating. And it’s this week’s 50 Book Pledge Featured Read! Trust me, you won’t forget the twist in this one!!

Give Me the Child is about Dr. Cat Lupo, a woman who wants another child so badly. Her first pregnancy brought on a severe psychosis—one that will make you wonder how her and her husband stayed together through it all. Anyways… it seems like fate when Ruby Winter, a small girl in need of help, arrives on her doorstep in the middle of the night.

But is it really fate? As the events behind her arrival emerge—her mother’s death, her connection to Cat—Cat begins to question whether her decision to help Ruby has put her own daughter at risk. Her work in child psychology starts to come in handy.

The relationship between Cat and Ruby is fascinating—and sometimes terrifying. McGrath had me questioning which character was in the wrong the entire way through, which kept me flipping the pages, almost faster than I could keep up with!

Like I said—Cat’s work in child psychology comes into play. In her research, she finds that there’s no such thing as evil—Ruby is just a small child, after all. Maybe Cat herself is just paranoid. But she continues to fight for the truth that she believes in, in order to protect her own (and only) daughter.

I can’t say much more without giving anything away, but if you’re looking for a thrilling read with a (seriously) dysfunctional family, this is it!! Give Me the Child is packed with all kinds of lies, emotional breakdowns, family tension, and more! You’ll devour this book so fast—like Tammy Cohen said, “you won’t want to eat, sleep or blink”—and it’ll leave you breathless.
