Happy Friday, Savvy Readers! I hope you’ve been staying warm wherever you are as it seems as though winter is back with a vengeance. Luckily, as bookworms, staying inside with a book is just as fun. Speaking of fun, there have been some great bookish news articles, links, and photos this week! So, cozy up and I’ll fill you in:

1. Celebrate Black History Month with Diverse Books and a New #50BookPledge Badge!

It’s Black History Month this month and we’re celebrating all month (year!) long by reading some amazing stories by fantastic authors. We’ve also introduced a new Black History Month badge for the 50 Book Pledge. You can earn it by reading one (or all!) of these unforgettable books: Steal Away Home by Karolyn Smardz Frost, Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly, or The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Click on the titles to learn more about each book and here to learn more about the badge.

2. The Long-Awaited Goodreads Re-Read Function is Here

Finally! Readers were happily surprised this week when Goodreads announced that its re-read function is now live. Now, when you re-read a title you’ve already marked as “Read” on Goodreads, you’ll be able to specify that you’re reading it again so that it counts towards your yearly total. Woohoo! Read more about the new function here.

3. Watch: The Unsettling New Book Trailer for John Darnielle’s Universal Harvester

4. This Week on #HCCLive: Heather O’Neill

I can’t stop gushing about Heather O’Neill and The Lonely Hearts Hotel but… #sorrynotsorry. It is my professional opinion that everyone should read Heather’s books. If you’re looking for where to start, why not watch this week’s #HCCLive? Kaiti interviews Heather and they chat about Montreal, inspirations, success, and more. Plus, great news for e-readers! Heather O’Neill‘s previous books, Lullabies for Little Criminals, The Girl Who Was Saturday Night, and Daydreams of Angels, are all a part of this week’s #SavvySavings deals in Canada for $3.99 each for a limited time only.

Don’t forget, book lovers! Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday. Here’s a comic that caught our eye this week – I think it’s absolutely perfect for the occasion.

Wishing you an early Happy Valentine’s Day, Savvy Readers! I hope you fall in love with a new book this weekend. If you do, be sure to let us know which book it was on Twitter @SavvyReader or in the comments below!
