Here’s what we did this week:

The 50 Book Pledge

We now have over 4,300 pledgers on the team AND we’ve reached 9% of our community reading goal for 2017!  That means we’ve read 13,600+ books! This is the year we are going to read 150,000 books, am I right?!

This Week’s Featured Read

We really, really enjoyed this week’s Featured Read, which is why we posted about it so much (see below). But seriously—what a book! This (well researched) debut novel from Teresa Messineo is about two WWII nurses and best friends, Jo and Kay. They both live through the war, and then struggle to cope in the aftermath of it all. Our fellow readers loved it, too:

“Teresa Messineo’s writing easily makes this book worth reading. I really did enjoy seeing World War ll from a nurse’s point of view. Jo and Kay were strong and vulnerable in all the right ways. With The Fire By Night being Messineo’s debut novel, I can’t imagine what will be next.” – Jumping Shelves Blog.

“It’s like Band of Brothers from the nurses perspective. Absolutely loved this book.” – Melissa, Goodreads.

“Any fan of WWII fiction should make a point to read Teresa Messineo’s debut novel, “The Fire By Night,” a dual narrative set in both theaters of war and told by two admirable, amazing women.” – Lindsay, Goodreads.

“Incredibly moving, hauntingly realistic and exceptionally captivating!” – Zoe, Amazon.
