Hey Savvy Readers! Now that it’s getting closer to December, that also means it’s getting closer to winter vacations. We have some perfect books for you to read by the pool or on the beach, or even to keep you distracted on your flight! How many will you be able to fit in your suitcase?

All we can say is thank goodness for eBooks.

The perfect read for any vacation is something funny, and Anchorboy  by Jay Onrait has got that covered! It’s the perfect funny book to read whether you’re by the pool or on the beach. Check out Onrait’s hilarious exploits as a sportscaster and melt your cares away so you can truly relax and enjoy the sun!

Nujeen.png

Nujeen by Nujeen Mustafa and Christina Lamb is the fantastic true story of a young girl journeying from Syria to escape war—in a wheelchair. This feel-good story will keep you enthralled, but make sure to remember to reapply that sunscreen!

Another great “biography” is Michael Chabon’s Moonglow. In real life, Chabon visited his dying grandfather who divulged all his secrets while on his deathbed. In Moonglow, the main character also visits his dying grandfather who then confesses his life to his grandson. Follow Chabon’s grandfather as he recounts his whole life, and experience a whole new adventure yourself!

Be Frank With Me by Julia Claiborne Johnson is a funny, unconventional story about a writer who hasn’t written in decades being forced to write a book after being conned out of her money. Join Alice Wheatley as she monitors the author and becomes the companion to her nine-year-old son Frank. Full of Hollywood moments and laughs, everyone will be begging to borrow it from you when you’re done!

If you liked 27 Dresses, you’ll love Always the Bridesmaid by Lindsey Kelk. This hilarious book follows the exploits of Maddie, who is constantly asked to be a bridesmaid, as she juggles a friend in wedding mode and another in a marriage meltdown. How will she handle it and can she finally be the bride for once?? (And keep an eye out for Kelk’s new book, We Were on a Break, out January 3 2017!)

A Nigth in With Grace Kelly.png

Still trying to catch up on that jet lag and spending a night in the hotel? That’s okay! A Night In With Grace Kelly by Lucy Holliday is sure to keep you company. The final book in the series that began with A Night In With Audrey Hepburn, Libby Lomax is experiencing love troubles again. Convinced her happily ever after with Olly, her best friend, is out of reach, she meets super hunk Joel. Will love finally work for Libby? Grace Kelly will keep you (and Libby) company while you read to find out!

Looking for a quick, fun read to toss in your beach bag? Who’s That Girl? By Mhairi McFarlene is the perfect book for you! Edie’s questionable exploits at a colleague’s wedding forces her to go on sabbatical and ghostwrite the autobiography of the shiny new actor Elliot Owen. Moving back to her hometown to live with her widowed father, judgy sister, and dealing with a snobby actor, will she survive?

Or maybe, instead of going on vacation, you’re looking for some inspiration? Paul Coelho’s The Alchemist is sure to help you there! Santiago’s dream to travel to far away in search of treasure comes true in this fantastic tale of magic and wonder. If this book doesn’t convince you to listen to your heart’s desires and explore, then I don’t know what will!

This next book I’m recommending is based on the cover alone! I totally want to be in Italy enjoying that sun and that sea! Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter is a romantic story that begins on the coast of Italy, and sparks up again in Hollywood. This book makes all of your Europe travel dreams come true, and if you’re one of the lucky ones, you may be reading it in Italy yourself!

We all love a good wedding story, even the unconventional ones. And let me tell you, Daughters of the Bride by Susan Mallery is an unconventional wedding story! During their mother’s wedding preparations, Courtney, Sienna, and Rachel all must deal with their own love lives and discover what true love means for each of them, while also being there for their mother. It’s all about second chances here, and throw in some steamy scenes to top it off as the perfect beach read!
