It’s Friday again, Savvy Readers! How is your week going? In case you missed it, we shared what we’re reading for our 50 Book Pledge on the blog this week. We’ve also been collecting this week’s biggest bookish news, links, and photos so you don’t have to. Simply keep reading or “Bookmark” this post for later!
1. Epic Reads Revealed the Title of Becky Albertalli’s New Book!
If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll probably know that we’re all huge fans of Becky Albertalli‘s debut novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda – we even wrote a post listing 10 reasons why we love it so much! Well, not only did the paperback edition of this beloved book come out this week, the Epic Reads team also shared some REALLY exciting news. Click here to find out what Becky Albertalli‘s next book will be called! Are you as excited as we are?
2. Seveneves Is Being Adapted Into a Movie
If you’re a fan of Apollo 13 and sci-fi, here’s some great news! The writer, director, and producer of Apollo 13 have teamed up to adapt Seveneves by bestselling author Neal Stephenson. We can’t wait to see this grand story come to life on screen. Haven’t read Seveneves yet? It’s always a good idea to read the book before seeing the movie!
3. Will We Soon Binge Books Like We Do Netflix?
As a publishing nerd (and big binge watcher), I found this article from Wired incredibly interesting. In it, writer Charley Locke wonders if publishers will start accelerating the publishing plans for their series (as was the case for Jeff Vandermeer‘s Southern Reach Trilogy!) to make series feel more episodic and, well, serialized for fans that love to binge watch their favourite shows. As someone who has a tendency to forget plot points in between books, I think this is a really attractive idea! What do you think? Click here to read the full article.
4. HarperCollins Canada’s Full of Books Giveaway is Back!
A few months ago HarperCollins Canada gave one lucky reader a backpack full of books. Now, they’re back with a suitcase full of books! Because there really is nothing better than spending a relaxing vacation with a good book in hand (and maybe an iced cold drink in the other), HarperCollins Canada is giving away a suitcase full of books AND a $1500 travel voucher. Visit fullofbooks.ca for more details!
