It’s another Friday, Savvy Readers! Are you all getting into the holiday spirit yet? I know we are here at The Savvy Reader! As the year is winding down, there are a lot of stories to cover, from Best Of lists to amazing gift guides. Keep reading to see which news articles, links, and photos caught our eye this week, or “bookmark” this post for later!

1. Winners of the Goodreads Choice Awards 2015 announced

The results are in! After three rounds of voting and over 3 million votes cast, Goodreads users voted some of our favourites of the year as the Best Books of 2015! Please join us in congratulating Harper Lee‘s Go Set a Watchman (Best Fiction), Neil Gaiman‘s Trigger Warning (Best Fantasy), Ree Drummond‘s The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Dinnertime (Best Food and Cookbooks), and Victoria Aveyard‘s Red Queen (Best Debut Author). 2. National Post’s 99 Best Books of the Year, Ranked

This just in! National Post has just published their ranking of the 99 Best Books of 2015. With a mix of literary fiction, award-winners, and non-fiction, this list will surely give you lots of ideas when it comes to gift-giving! (We’re so happy to see some of our favourites, including Outline by Rachel Cusk, Stalin’s Daughter by Rosemary Sullivan, The Devil You Know by Elisabeth de Mariaffi, The Illegal by Lawrence Hill and more, make the list!) 3. A book that is also a subway ticket?

This is possibly one of the best things I’ve seen all week. CBC Books reported this week that in São Paulo, “Ticket Books,” published by Brazillian publishing group L&PM Editores, can be used as a subway ticket. As someone who commutes everyday, I love this idea. It’s an extra reason to bring a book with you at all times! Read the full article here.
