In case you missed it, the Scotiabank Giller Prize announced their 2014 longlist a couple of weeks ago. And now I am THRILLED to announce the six books that fought their way through round two and made it to the shortlist!
The Scotiabank Giller Prize has gained a reputation for highlighting the very best in Canadian fiction year after year. The author of the winning Canadian novel or short story collection published in English is awarded $100,000, and each of the finalists receive $10,000. And 2014 marks the 21st year of the prize!
The winner will be announced at a gala ceremony to honour the finalists on Monday, November 10th. Looking at this amazing shortlist, I don’t envy the judges who have to pick only one winner!
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for these picks from HarperCollinsCanada: The Betrayers by David Bezmogis, Tell by Francis Itani, and The Girl Who Was Saturday Night by Heather O’Neill. And to celebrate, we’ll be giving away copies of all these shortlisted titles! Head on over to @HarperCollinsCa or Facebook to enter before 9:00 PM EST on Monday, October 6th.
