Recipe Excerpt: Candy Bar Pie from Sherry Gore’s Me, Myself, and Pie

Looking for a new way to eat your Halloween candy? This is a super-fun recipe from Amish food writer and pie expert Sherry Gore’s upcoming cookbook, Me, Myself and Pie. This is Candy Bar Pie!

Candy Bar Pie

Candy Bar pie. An endless variety of candy bars can make up this delectable treat, and guess what – you get to pick!

Ingredients:
6 ounces chocolate pudding (make your own or use store-bought)
3 cups frozen whipped topping
4 full-size candy bars, roughly chopped

To Prepare:
Make the pudding and let it cool. Fold in whipped topping and candy bars. Pour into pie crust and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

Tip: For an impressive pie sure to please everyone, double the filling recipe.

For the crust:
One 9-inch baked pastry, chocolate or chocolate shortbread recipe.

This crust derives its palate power from a universally beloved cookie concoction, the chocolate sandwich cookie.

Ingredients:
20 chocolate sandwich cookies, finely crushed
¼ teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons milk

To Prepare:
In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients together. Pat onto bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Bake at 350° F for 7 to 10 minutes until set. Remove from oven and let cool for 30 minutes.
