The Daniel Plan Day #5: Withdrawal
I knew going into the Daniel Plan challenge that there would be some difficulties. Giving up dairy would be tough but doable. Giving up coffee for ten days straight? Yikes!
Normally I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day, on long days, maybe more. This was actually one of the main reasons I wanted to try the Daniel Plan. I’ve always been concerned with fitness and eating (relatively) well and I’ve been contemplating for some time changes to my diet. The Daniel Plan offered an easy, simple structure to try a detox, level myself out and begin to feel even better.
And I was right. The plan is relatively simple once you’ve cleaned out your fridge and cupboards and loaded up with the right kind of groceries. My mistake was going cold-turkey on coffee. That first day I had a massive, epic headache about 2pm that I thought was going to bring me to my knees. What I learned: tapering was probably the best thing for me.
After that though, I felt great. More energetic, clear-headed and actually felt lighter on my feet than normal. After just four days on the plan.
