Planet YA: Canadian Edition!

Have you checked out  this amazing map “The United States of YA” created by our US cousins at EpicReads? Each state is represented by a fabulous YA book. Needless to say (but we will anyways) it is an epic achievement, and we are so excited to join Planet YA with our own Canadian Map!

For the past couple of days, Vikki, Melissa and I have been debating which books we would add to our map (with help from our lovely @HCCFrenzy twitter-friends!) It’s been a fun, but very difficult process. Canada has an infinite library of unique and wonderful literature that celebrates the cultures it depicts. The young-adult genre is no exception.

So, after days of debating and deciding, I present to you our picks for the Canadian Map for Planet YA!

Western Canada
Half Brother by Kenneth Oppel
Alice, I Think by Susan Juby

Prairies
Dust by Arthur Slade
Mistik Lake by Martha Brooks

Central Canada
The Uninvited by Tim Wynne-Jones
Innercity Girl Like Me by Sabrina Bernardo

Eastern Canada
Running on Empty by Don Aker
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

Northern Canada
Far North by Will Hobbs

What do you think of our list? How many have you read? Share your thoughts with Vikki, Melissa and I on twitter, at @HCCFrenzy.

Have a good night!
Kaitlyn
